Body and Form
Before pictures
Process pictures
These are the sketches that I made throughout the process. I tried to explore different ways of using the fabric and how to style it.
These pictures show how i started cutting the fabric into pieces that i can rework. First of all, the pattern and the white shirt were separated. The white shirt was cut as shown on the left and it was used to remake a shirt with an open back. On the other hand, the pattern was cut to get: 1- a piece to cover the open back 2- cuffs 3 - left over pieces to design the final outcome.
(The first image on the bottom left is what will be used for the open back)
Attempts / exploration
This was an attempt to try to how I can fold the fabric to give a nice fold
I tried wrapping the fabric around the body but it did not seem to look nice so I started exploring other designs
In my second design, I was trying to see how different folds would look. I really liked how this design looked. I used the extra pieces to make smaller folds around the big ones
I liked how elegant this design looked. I was thinking of using the extra fabrics to give a design under the bottom ruffles to make it look "double sided"
I was not sure which design to go for between the last 2 (the 2 above) as I liked both of them. Yet, I chose the one on the right as it matches the theme my partner (Zoe) and I were going for.
This is how the back was planned to look like
Here I started sewing the pieces together
Sewing the bottom ruffles
Adding the extra fabric at the back of the ruffles

Theme and Final Outcome
In this project, Zoe (my partner) and I went for a mystical, fantasmic, and ethereal vibe. We both tried to work with the color white and fabric folds to give it "freedom" in the movement. we both tried to make delicate with use of sewing machine. Also, we both used some of our pieces to create cuffs for the hands to make it a similar theme for both of our pieces.
Overall, I tried to transform the piece and add more movement to it. I changed how the pattern of the shirt was used and I put it in the back, the ruffles, and the cuffs. Adding the pattern from the back also made it more flowy which matches the theme. That is why the sleeves, the ruffles and the cuffs as loose fitted as well. As seen in the pictures above, I used the extra fabric and the white cotton toile to create the ruffles as well as the short sleeves. I could have put more color in the front with maybe embroidery or knitting but due to time restriction, it was not possible. If I would improve it more, I would use the ruffles more on the front instead of putting it all around. So it would turn out to be something similar to the design that I tried before in my process (my second attempt design, seen above in the attempts section). I could have still followed the theme with the use of different type of ruffles as I think the way that I put them may have made the piece lose its form. But overall, I was satisfied with the outcome.
