Synergistic Design
This lecture was about synergistic design, where we learned how as designers we can create connections between diverse components for a better and more efficient result. While synergy is a win-win situation (positive-sum), there is a concept called zero-sum. Zero sum is when there is only one benefiting party in the interaction, or interference.

I think that as designers we should aim for synergy as a way of more efficient life. Instead of using these diverse elements separately we can put them together and create a relation between them to create a more complete and holistic system where everything works together seamlessly.

A real life example of synergy that we do not notice as much is malls where the shops are diverse and might even be competitors in their field but yet they come together in a mall. One one hand, this interaction between these two stores in mall attracts customers as they find that there are more stores in this specific place. On the other hand, the stores benefit from this customer attraction as they can have a chance at grabbing the attention of these customers.
