Reading : Design Will Save The World

bruce mau.jpeg

In this week's reading we got introduced to Bruce Mau' s Massive Change exhibition and some ideas behind it. I found this reading to be really interesting in terms of how to takes on many ideas from the exhibition and discusses them, in relation to design of course. Furthermore, the reading showed us Bruce's Mau's design thinking in relation to "Seamless Design", which is the topic of this week. His idea of how design can be used for a better, brighter future and how it "will save the world". This leads to the idea that how as we look at the world differently and in a futuristic way we can see how seamless this universe is. This is supported by my favorite sentence in the reading which was " One of MC's premises is to "make the invisible visible", that is to say to reveal the hidden role of design ". This sentence summarizes the whole reading for us to understand how design can make us see what we do not notice and makes connections in the world around us for a better life and future.

Lecture : Seamless Design

This lecture opened my mind to the world that we leave in more than I though. Before this lecture I thought about "seamless design" as a pattern that does not have any seams or flaws but after this lecture I realized that seamless design is more than just a pattern, it is the whole universe. Our world is made seamlessly where everything around us across scales are integrated together to create this universe. It is done flawlessly that it become a design ambition. It became a way to advance and build for a better future. This concept branches out into many others such as circular design where the life cycle of a product is aiming to be wasteless which ultimately creates a flawless cycle and thus it is better for the environment.
